Oceans are very large bodies of water. About three fourths of the earth's surface is covered by water.

There are four oceans: the Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Indian Ocean.

The largest ocean is the Pacific Ocean and the smallest in the Arctic Ocean.

The bottom of the ocean is called the ocean bed. some of the ocean bed is flat. There are also underwater mountain ranges and some of the underwater mountains are active volcanoes.

The deepest part of the oceans is in the Marianas Trench in the Pacific Ocean.

Water flows in patterns in the oceans called currents. The Gulf Stream is a warm current which flows across the Atlantic Ocean.
